House Lannister of Casterly Rock is one of the Great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms, Lord Paramounts of the Westerlands. It is the wealthiest house of the Seven Kingdoms, maintaining this wealth with its gold mines found in the mountains. House Lannister can field an army up to about 50,000 men and control one of the largest fleess in the Seven Kingdoms, the Lannisport Fleet.
Casterly Rock is the ancient seat of House Lannister, won by trickery from House Casterly by Lann the Clever, their founder. The Lannisters style themselves 'Shield of Lannisport' and traditionally have been Wardens of the West.
